This paper addresses the efficiency impacts of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Viet Nam. It provides a review of literature on spillover effects of FDI in the service sector, and a mathematical model based on data for both the manufacturing and services sector. The measures of FDI forward linkages are found to be statistically significant and negatively related to the output performance of domestic firms. This study is part of a larger tri-institute FDI project jointly carried out by the Centre for Analysis and Forecasting (Viet Nam), the Edge Institute (South Africa) and the North-South Institute (Canada).en
