dc.description.abstractInvolvement of private military/security companies (PMSCs) in African conflicts has had a significant bearing on both International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and International Human Rights Law (IHRL). The paper contributes to the debate regarding the use of PMSCs, and comments on the current Draft International Convention on the Regulation, Oversight and Monitoring of Military and Security Companies. It provides a general overview of the Draft Convention, its purpose, scope of application, and international oversight and monitoring. The effectiveness of the Committee on Regulation, Oversight and Monitoring of Private Military and Security Companies is assessed as well as the obligations of intergovernmental organisations.en
