With the Bill addressed in this submission, South Africa has opted for a domestic solution, where existing IP laws are the main tool for protecting indigenous knowledge. The ACA2K network focuses on the opportunities and challenges offered by the digital era, whch presents greater opportunities for learning materials access, but along with this, new technological, legal and behavioural barriers. Expanding the current framework of copyright exceptions and limitations can reduce adverse impacts of this Bill. Of central concern to the network is which copyright law flexibilities are being deployed in each of the study countries, and their related effects.en
