dc.description.abstractVietnam attained quite impressive achievements in poverty reduction, which was highly appreciated by the World. Together with economic growth, GDP per capita has been increasing dramatically in recent years. GDP per capita increase from 402 USD in 2000 to 835 USD in 2007. High economic growth in average of 7% per year in the period of 1996-2007 helped Vietnam reduce poverty rate rapidly from 58.1% in 1993 to 15.9% in 2006. However, Viet Nam also face big challenges in economic development and poverty reduction as economic growth slowed, inflation rising, especially goods, food and environmental pollution. These factors make this process of poverty reduction slowed, even the rate of poverty in urban areas also tend to increase. For gained much more successful Viet Nam need to reform more vigorously to maintain stable growth. Besides raising the effectiveness of public services and social security for the poor to share the benefits of growth are better for the group of people in society to the goal towards sustainable development.en
