Snapshot of civil registration and vital statistics systems of the republic of Zimbabwé
Centre of Excellence for Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) Systems
The Department of the Registrar General under the Ministry of Home Affairs is responsible for civil registration in Zimbabwe. The identification number is the unique identifier used in civil registration and ID management. This number links all the civil registration, such as births, deaths, national identity, voting, and marriages, as well as including passports and cattle brands. This policy brief provides an overview of CRVS processes. Annexes provide details of various registration systems. Coverage of Indigenous populations was significantly lower than European and Asian populations prior to independence from Great Britain (1980).
