dc.description.abstractThe study evaluated techniques of enriching nitrogen content of municipal solid waste (MSW) compost to increase its use in urban agriculture. The effects of the compost-fertilizer on growth, yield, quality, nutrient uptake of cabbage (Brassica oleracea var capitata L.) and on residual soil characteristics on a Haplic Luvisol (soil group) in Accra, Ghana, were studied together with compost, nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium (NPK), poultry droppings at three different application rates based on cabbage nitrogen requirement. Results of the nitrogen enrichment showed that urea-based comlizer (dry or paste) and ammonium sulphate-based comlizer (dry) were the best formulations.en
