dc.description.abstractA cornerstone of the Research for International Tobacco Control (RITC) IDRC programming, has been the provision of small research grants. In partnership with the Canadian Tobacco Control Research Initiative, the American Cancer Society, Cancer Research UK, the National Cancer Institute in France, and Health Canada, 85 research projects in over 40 countries are generating needed evidence to support a wide range of tobacco control policy measures in the South. These remarks opened a week long international conference at IDRC headquarters in Ottawa, Canada.en
