dc.description.abstract | This training video briefly outlines the origins of social work as a helping profession in the face of the breakdown of traditional family kinship systems and the rise of capitalism. Protection of vulnerable groups includes the poor, women, children, and ill or otherwise disabled people, through social welfare, health and housing programs. Social workers in Ghana act as liaison between communities and their traditional community rulers, providing education and direction towards better decision making in social programming. The video also includes interviews with social workers, students, and educators in the field of Social Work in Ghana. | en |
