The paper provides a Post Election Situation Assessment to establish causes and impacts of post-election violence in Kenya (2007), towards a way forward for the country. The study and survey revealed opportunistic roots to the conflict, including: idleness of youth; corruption; polarized ethnic affiliations; suppression of people’s wishes for change through political campaigns and the media. The trustworthiness of the election results were questionable: the majority of the survey respondents felt that the electoral commission (ECK) chairman’s statements during the tallying period were either irresponsible or made under external pressure and did not reflect an honest decision.en
