dc.description.abstractThe research aims at determining the volume of foreign direct investment (FDI) flows and their impact on economic efficiency and inequality or poverty reduction in Vietnam and South Africa and in low- and middle-income countries, looking especially at systematic differences in behavior in low- versus middle-income countries, to see whether FDI flows lead or follow development. The project used a variety of coordinated methods, including descriptions of FDI policy, firm-level surveys and case studies, and country level econometric regressions. Research outputs, workshops and other activities are reviewed.en
