This presentation is derived from a paper presented at the Africa Research and Education Network (AfREN) 2008 Workshop at EMI Rabat, Maroc on “Optimal management and use of critical resources in campus networks in Africa: the power supply factor.” The detailed presentation advocates for the application, use, implementation of, and training for alternative and renewable energy resources (solar and wind) to power what the author calls, the “epileptic” electricity supply (in a perpetual state of blackouts and insecurity). The high cost of running existing diesel fuel generators makes Internet access prohibitive and exclusive. L'École Mohammadia d'ingénieurs (EMI) in Rabat is one of the largest technical schools in Morocco.en
