Three cases provide examples of transnational research networks, and serve to illustrate factors and conditions that have facilitated or inhibited the potential of IDRC-supported research to influence public policy. These are the Latin American Trade Network (LATN), the Asian Fisheries Social Science Research Network (AFSSRN), and the Technical Support Service to the Group of 24 (G-24). Affecting policy regimes includes actual use of research in the development of new laws, regulations or structures. Thus, building the capacity of researchers to better understand policy and decision-making processes can lead to research that policy makers are able to use towards informed policy.en
