dc.description.abstractThe presentation provides an overview of SomaliREN including socio-economic impacts, emerging telecommunications infrastructure, ICT development and access to ICT. The SomaliREN has seven participating tertiary institutions across Somalia as members of its national research and education networks (NRENs). More than 1200 Somali students have benefited annually since 2004. Challenges to NREN development, such as political instability and inadequate infrastructure at universities are also outlined.en
