Contamination from polluted waters, urban waste, industries, vehicles and agrochemicals, are some sources of urban agricultural problems. Few studies have examined or quantified the risks to urban agriculture and health posed by organic pollutants. This study examines the concentration of polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in soil, air, produce and water from samples collected in Kampala as well as possible sources of pollution. The data is used to quantify pathways of PAH exposure and estimate health impacts among children. The thesis is part of a larger investigation of the benefits and risks of agriculture in deteriorating urban environments.en
