dc.description.abstractThe African peer review mechanism (APRM) represents a major challenge for African civil society – to parlay its extensive experience into improved governance in African countries. This research initiative aims to help inform African civil society about the APRM. For it to succeed, African governments will have to take concrete measures to fully implement the APRM provisions. As well, the African private sector is an essential lever in the continent’s continued development. The paper reviews the emergence of the APRM initiative from the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD), with recommendations for reinforcement of APRM mobilization.en
