Abstract

The aim of the toolkit is to provide a set of guidelines, case examples and checklists to identify, address, and manage conflicts of interest in Health Research. It also provides tools and mechanisms to strengthen the capacities of Science Councils and Research Ethics Committees. The toolkit is a user guide for staff in Science Granting Councils and Research Ethics Committees, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. However, these guidelines may also be useful for institutions outside of the sub-Saharan African region, as well as for institutions other than those engaged in health research, such as funders of research, governments, and other stakeholders.
