This paper outlines the evolution of arguments by feminist and sustainable and human development advocates that focus on rights-based development and which include the integration of a feminist perspective in development practice. It is organised into three sections outlining (i) key concepts, (ii) evolution of the feminist debate on gender and development as well as some of the different frameworks for conducting gender analysis, and (iii) review of the human development approach and its potential for advancing gender justice.en
