The funds were utilized to provide operational support for vitamin A supplementation, covering costs related to transportation of vitamin A capsules from Nairobi to Somalia and within Somalia; storage of vitamin A capsules; distribution of vitamin A capsules. The Vitamin A supplementation was linked with Polio National Immunization Days (NIDs), targeting children between the ages of 6-59 months, and was conducted twice during both 2002 and 2003. Results of the nutritional survey conducted in Dinsor district (Central and Southern Somalia) a few weeks before the final report, showed that 70% of children had received an adequate dose of vitamin A.en
