dc.description.abstractThe rise of Open Access can increase access to and dissemination of knowledge via the Internet. The Southern African Regional Universities Association (SARUA) conducted the study “Opening Access to Knowledge in Southern African Universities” towards identifying key constraints to access to knowledge by universities in the South African Development Community (SADC) region. Respondents expressed concern about the quality of Open Access material, particularly when it is not peer-reviewed. This was a qualitative study exploring the views, perceptions and attitudes of respondents to create a picture of their concerns and constraints in accessing and disseminating knowledge.en
