dc.description.abstractUsing the ‘AIDS Clock’ the total number of deaths was 2.9 million (in 2006, about 5 people a minute). Even with funding increases, the amount of resources available for HIV/AIDS in 2006 was still far short of the $14.9 billion that the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) had estimated was required to meet the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) of slowing and reversing the pandemic. This paper evaluates Canada’s stated policy framework in order to determine the extent to which it supports the goal of providing universal access to prevention, treatment, care and support by 2010.en
