Abstract

Effective leadership and management (L&M) have a wide range of functions in improving quality in maternal and newborn health care. In Tanzania, maternal and perinatal adverse outcomes have been attributed to ineffective L&M (Assisting Safe Deliveries in Tanzania/ASDIT audits). This brief presentation reviews why leadership and management are important attributes of health care delivery in terms of maternal and child health.
