Abstract
Dirección General de Registro Civil, Identificación y Cedulación (DIGERCIC) is a decentralized entity responsible for civil registration and vital statistics in Ecuador. It is part of the National Public Data Registration System which combines information from many registers and makes it available to public and private institutions through interoperable platforms. Strategic plans include mobile registration brigades in hard-to-reach areas, to provide vital event registration (births and deaths), or where there are large concentrations of people such as hospitals, schools, markets, and stadiums.
