Abstract
Ministries responsible for civil registration are the Ghana Health Service (for notification); Births and Deaths Registry (for registration); Registrar-General’s Department (for marriage). To acquire a national identification (ID), applicants must submit one of the following documents: birth certificate, marriage certificate, or citizenship certificate. The existing ID system is linked to the civil registration system. In the current institutional arrangement between ID and civil registration, apart from consultation frameworks, there are currently no formalized functional relationships. There is currently no national CRVS improvement strategy.
