Abstract
This comprehensive report discusses in terms of climate change, possible measures for discharging the Security Council’s Charter-given mandate to maintain international peace and security. Council members increasingly support the integration of climate change language into formal Council outcomes. Details of the report include sections on: ways in which the Council has engaged in this issue; the UN Charter and Security Council and General Assembly practice for guidance on Council involvement; its approach to climate threats and security matters; and options for the way forward. The report concludes with annexes summarising climate change language in Security Council outcomes, and listing relevant documents.
