Abstract
In carrying out its work, the Department of Civil and National Registration (DCNR) has partnerships with the Botswana Ministry of Health, which is responsible for birth and deaths events; the Administration of Justice, which is responsible for divorce administration; and Statistics Botswana, which is responsible for compiling, analyzing and releasing vital statistics. In line with the Africa Programme on Accelerated Improvement of civil registration and vital statistics (APAI-CRVS), a national coordination system has been set up. The main sources of vital statistics are the civil registration system, population and housing census and household sample surveys.
