Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic has been disruptive of fragile and conflict-affected countries. The dual shock to public health and service delivery has amplified the vulnerabilities of Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) systems. This report highlights the need for increased investments in CRVS systems in fragile contexts and outlines the challenges and opportunities in the realm of statistical capacity development and digital approaches. New digital technologies for CRVS and identity management are gaining popularity as efficient and accessible solutions for low resource settings. The report provides details of digitalization capacity and challenges.
