Abstract

The study investigates the Creative and Liberal Arts in STEM (STEAM) research undertaken in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) to understand how it can impact the engagement of individuals of diverse backgrounds, particularly women, and produce socially relevant knowledge and innovations. This report elucidates the benefits and challenges of STEAM research, the compositions of STEAM teams, and women’s inclusion. The deep division between the Arts and sciences has led to a notable gap in the literature regarding the application of STEAM research, especially in LMICs, which suggests that it continues to be an emerging topic.
