Abstract
Rapid urban development must meet food needs at an unprecedented scale, while building economic foundations within a carbon-neutral economic transition. Urban food security, food systems and governance have largely been absent from urban governance debates. This workshop offered global reflections on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) localisation efforts, presented and discussed though an urban food lens, and drawn from cities engaged in the Hungry Cities Partnership project. Food is a useful lens for approaching sustainability, global development challenges and SDGs in a holistic manner. The workshop sheds light on food insecurity, food retail environments and policy implications for urban sustainability.
