Abstract:
WAHO is concerned in promoting the use of evidence for the development of maternal, newborn and child health policies and programs. A situational analysis was conducted in six countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali, Nigeria and Senegal) through the Moving Maternal Newborn and Child Health Evidence into Policy in West Africa (MEP) project. In most Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) policy making and other health care stakeholder capacities are weak due to lack of ability to acquire evidence, to evaluate its validity, quality and applicability, and to adapt and apply research findings. This policy brief presents the results of the situational analysis and formulates recommendations.
