Abstract
This briefing paper sets out a medium-term research agenda for the three-year project. The set of immediate priorities for descriptive research studies calls for a focus on persons living with disabilities, Dalit and Adivasi groups, including within-group variations such as by marital status, caste, tribal status, religion, location, and combinations thereof, and health conditions beyond maternal and child health. The agenda for explanatory research (answering “how” and “why” questions) also calls for multiple axes of vulnerabilities. The third category of research relates to the role of the health system in increasing or mitigating health inquiries.
