Abstract
This three-minute video captures the process of participatory action research (PAR). The community identifies key issues; in this case, home deliveries, low participation of men, delayed commencement of maternal care, as well as low birth spacing and family planning. Community members worked together to identify solutions. Evaluation of implementation is another part of the cycle, to review strategies and solutions, and to strengthen the successful components. Health benefits from PAR include community empowerment, promoting sustainable health interventions along with improvements in access to health care, and maternal and child health.
