Abstract

This chapter provides a comparative analysis between the evidence-based principles for collaborative approaches to evaluation (CAE) and those associated with the DECI (Developing Evaluation Capacity in Information Society Research)- hybrid approach. The CAE principles were derived from a research project that gathered insights from 320 evaluators who practice CAE. The DECI principles emerged from an action and implementation project within which a number of partner projects were mentored in utilization-focused evaluation (UFE) combined with research communication. The comparison is meant to assess the extent to which there is convergent validity and to explore the complementarity of the principle sets.
