Abstract

This country report elaborates on the institutional framework in India for implementing United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in general, and health SDGs in particular, placing focus on the role of health policy research institutions (HPRIs) and their involvement in the implementation and monitoring of health related SDGs, their potential role in achieving SDGs, and their linkages with other stakeholders. Some areas that need attention are: capacity building and strengthening collaborations among stakeholders; expertise in developing and planning effective SDG strategies; generating disaggregated data on various development indicators; and creating specific mechanisms for tracking progress and experiences at the grassroots level.
