Abstract

The need for equity of access to affordable, locally relevant educational materials is felt acutely in Global South countries facing growing student numbers, decreasing government funding, increasing textbooks costs, and educational materials that are not aligned with local context. The presentation provides an overview of case studies that illustrate the Open Education Cycle. Ideally Open Educational Resources (OER) need to be “Re-curated” and “Re-circulated” to fulfil the “Share-Alike” licence and or make the derivative work easy to find in order to re-use, re-customise and recombine.
