Abstract

IDRC is often credited with funding visionary projects, investing in the capacity building of Southern researchers and institutions, and taking risks where other funders are not willing to go. The IDRC needs to become more visible by communicating more about what it does – particularly in the area of capacity building in the Global South, where it is considered a trailblazer. This report outlines key findings from consultations with 46 experts in the field of research for development (R4D) in order to understand the current and future landscape of R4D, and guide the remainder of IDRC’s strategic plan for 2015-2020.
