Policy brief to disseminate good cultural practices in Grand-Lahou

Abstract

Increased knowledge of insect vectors and alternative hosts contributes to developing an effective control strategy for phytoplasma diseases such as Côte d’Ivoire lethal yellowing (CILY) disease in Grand-Lahou. Findings of this study “Fighting lethal yellowing disease for coconut farmers (CIFSRF Phase 2)” have identified alternative hosts for the CILY phytoplasma from the villages of Braffedon, Palindustrie V1, Badadon, Yaokro, and Adjadon. Insect specimens of the Hemiptera order, subfamily Typhlocybine, Nedotepa curta are identified as potential vectors of the CILY phytoplasma. Both may have epidemiological implications for CILY spread in coconut farms in Grand-Lahou.
