Abstract
Promoting men’s involvement in raising children and their participation in caregiving and domestic work are part of the Programme of Action for the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD). This study aims to understand the enabling factors that promote and encourage men’s involvement in caregiving and highlights key experiences of men with a greater-than-the-norm involvement. Statistically significant results are tabled to provide a summary of childhood and adulthood factors associated with men’s caregiving. Twenty years after the ICPD Programme of Action, data suggest that men’s participation in care work is increasing, but often at painfully slow rates.
