Abstract

This book aims at contributing to the growing academic literature on the importance of institutional interconnections to a country’s development.1 In the context of a relatively recent privatization process that created regulatory agencies for certain economic sectors, the book investigates whether and how the institutional environment affects and or determines the strategies adopted by different interest groups to influence regulatory outcomes and the functioning of regulatory agencies. It focuses specifically on courts and their interaction with regulatory agencies in one particular country, Brazil.
