Abstract
The aim of the research is to promote high standards in the training of security providers and prospective service providers in South Africa, as well as to provide recommendations for regulatory practices. Key measures are needed for promoting and fostering greater compliance to the Private Security Industry Regulation Act 56 (PSIRA) of 2001, related to the regulation of the dog handling sector of the industry. A regulatory mechanism that gives room for effective and professional training centres should be established.
