Abstract

Climate governance requires a smooth interface between scientists and policy makers to generate solid knowledge-based climate policies and programs. The project aims to strengthen the interface between climate change science and policy making processes in Argentina, Bolivia, and Chile. Recognition of a gap between the “theoretical” view of scientists and “useful knowledge required by decision-makers” emphasizes the differences between the two knowledge cultures. This gap is widened where institutional continuity is lacking due to political changes, alongside a potentially short-term horizon of the public sector, with resultant effects on construction of political agendas. The report covers outputs and activities of the project.
