Abstract

The place where people are born and live strongly determines their opportunities for access to high quality employment. With unequal distribution among territories in Latin America, the difficulties that accompany unstable employment constitute serious obstacles, not only for those who experience them, but also for the equitable development of the region’s countries. Support policies specific to the territories that lag the most are needed, to reduce existing gaps in employment quality and other socio-economic factors. There is a need for information systems that allow for periodic reporting on trends in territorial gaps.
