Abstract
With input from 56,000 weather stations, the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) World Water and Climate Atlas gives agricultural planners rapid access to the best available data on climate, and moisture availability for agriculture. The paper outlines IWMl's research strategy: cross-cutting research issues such as links between global water scarcity, food security and policy directions that can help solve these problems. IWMI tools and strategies help developing countries better manage their water resources. IWMI's Policy Dialogue Model (PODIUM) ‘big research questions’ assists countries in formulating realistic water use and food security policies for the coming decades.
