Abstract
Economic development without heed to ecological and social sustainability is insufficient to achieve global health. This article draws on a recent volume from IDRC (Charron 2012) that updates the concepts of ecosystem approaches to health, and assesses its main contributions, using illustrative examples from the literature, including those summarized here. The paper reviews ecohealth principles, projects, and approaches to sustainable global health.
