Abstract
Financial, management, and organisational problems adversely affect quality health care in Kenya. This study calls for the development of strategies that will ensure constant supply and more effective utilisation of health inputs, better staff remuneration and training, enhancement of hospital capacities, and better servicing of hospital equipment and machines. Better management of available resources and planning, with built-in monitoring and evaluation procedures are required to promote public health sector efficiency. In the longer term, more fundamental issues relating to both technical and economic efficiency need to be addressed.
