Abstract
The African Health Economics and Policy Association, or Afya, first newsletter is introduced. The AfHEA acronym bears close resemblance to the Swahili word for health, “afya” which is also the word for health in several other African languages. This issue provides an outline of the vision, mission, goals, membership, activities, opportunities, upcoming events and calls for papers.
