Abstract
Survival rates of local SMEs with shrinking foreign markets can be enhanced, without large investment in new facilities or equipment, (and in the case of relatively low-technology firms) through improving quality of existing products, rather than by selling products at lower prices. During the global economic crisis (2008-2009) foreign enterprises could not continue exporting their products to Indonesia due to problems they faced in their own countries.
