Abstract

The project provided an excellent opportunity for 26 Canadians to pursue their research with interdisciplinary understanding, empirical fieldwork, and insights from community level development professionals. The students won scholarships (including most competitive awards such as Vanier and SSHRC post doctoral fellowship) collectively worth more than $900,000, to support their academic programs. Thus, every dollar budgeted for training in the Revalorizing Small Millets in Rainfed Regions of South Asia (RESMISA) project raised an additional $1.75 from other competitive sources.
