Abstract
Interventions aimed at promoting positive practices among human beings must consider existing status and gaps in knowledge, attitude and access/availability related to the targeted practice. Training was given to project staff on functions and effects of deficiency of carbohydrate, protein, fat, mineral and vitamins. Special focus was given for iron as 80% of children are anaemic. The role of nutrition gardens in making green vegetables and green leafy vegetables available was very significant. However, the gardens were not alive year round. During water scarce months the families did not grow plants.
