Abstract
Pulse production is the major component of agriculture in Ethiopia. The study addresses the overall chickpea production and marketing system of selected districts in Southern Nation, Nationalities and Peoples Region (SNNPR) with particular emphasis to chickpea value chain, identifying nine chickpea marketing channels. Cooperatives membership is considered an important vehicle to improve marketing of agricultural commodities and supply of inputs; access to government agricultural extension is also critical to farmers for technical support and inputs supplied through extension services. Chickpea value chain actors are broadly classified as: inputs suppliers, direct market actors and enablers.
