Abstract

The paper reviews workshop processes aimed at strengthening capacities of Canadian International Food Security (CIFSRF) research teams to use effective strategies, approaches and tools for engaging with policy processes. Project teams were supported in producing three outputs: an outcome story to document significant findings during the project; a policy brief on one issue informed by the research process; and a communication action plan. Two examples of finalised gender outcome stories from the African CIFSRF projects were provided. Most time was spent working in project teams to discuss, draft and refine their writing, including a communication action plan.
